Bali, «the Island of the Gods», is one of the smaller islands of the Indonesian archipelago and is probably very small if compared to its reputation. Bali is like a little paradise…splendid beaches in the south, mountains covered with forests, pleasant hills on which the rice fields draw curves in the light at any time of the day, a living culture and, above all, a population with an astonishing gentleness.

31st August 2008, the day before the first day of Ramadan, I leave the Hindu island and board a ferry at night to reach Java. Volcanoes, lunar landscapes, beautiful and unpredictable encounters, extraordinary flora and fauna...three intense weeks travelling through the island, before reaching Singapore.
